The first three seasons of the MLP FIM cartoon have gone down in TV-history as one of the best animated shows ever. Such is the quality of the writing and production, headed by Lauren Faust, that the show has garnered an unusually diverse and widespread fan base – the show appeals to young girls, older men and mothers-of-two everywhere.
If, like me, you have been thoroughly unsuccessful in staying away from the comic issues as they are released each month by IDW, then you will know just how fantastic this book is.
Much like the TV series on which it is based, the comic is a heartfelt collection that covers the gamut of human/pony emotions – kindness, humor, courage, down right silliness (Pinkie Pie, I am looking at you) and more.
Lets take a closer look:
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic GN Vol 1
The Graphic novel covers the first six issues of the IDW comic series. The blurb from Amazon doesn’t say much:
Welcome to Ponyville, home of Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and all your other favorite Ponies! Something’s not right in the town though, as some of the inhabitants are acting very, very strange! It’s up to the Mane Six to find the source of the weirdness before it’s too late!
So let’s head over to Comixology (put your wallet away right now!).
Queen Chrysalis has returned! Our ponies have no time to horse around, as they set off to rescue their friends from Chrysalis kingdom. What magical adventures await them, and where the heck is Princess Celestia?
You get the gist. What doesn’t come across in the descriptions however is:
a) The awesome writing style of Katie Cook
b) The awesome art from Andy Price
So here are a few page previews to remedy that situation:
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic GN is released May 28 2013 and you can preorder the title at Amazon now.
